Care Partners

Care Partner Board on UniPass/UniCast

As part of our efforts to achieve feature parity between the legacy and new systems, the care provider board was added to the new systems.

  • All functionality is the same for both types of UniTV devices (legacy and UniPass/UniCast).

  • The care partner board tile will be displayed on the member’s home screen in slightly different ways on each box:

Legacy boxes: The care partner board tile will be displayed to the right of the Live Activities tile, and will be focused on by default when the member hits the Home button on the remote.

UniPass/UniCast boxes: The care partner board tile will be placed to the left of the Live Activities tile, and it will not be focused on by default when the member hits the Home button on the remote.

  • UniPass/UniCast members will be able to navigate between announcements in the board.

    • Messages are displayed in a carousel and rotate automatically every 15 seconds.

  • Setting up the care partner board is done through the Announcements tab in UniManage— this is identical to the previous process.

  • Setting up the care partner board for the care provider is done through the Setup tab in UniManage— this is identical to the previous process.

Enabled Raise Hand Feature for UniPass/UniCast Devices

As part of the feature parity effort between the legacy and new software, members can now use the raise hand function in both systems.

Hosts sometimes hard-mute all meeting members during live activities, meaning that all the mics are muted and members can’t unmute themselves. This often causes confusion, frustration, and a lot of incoming support calls. The new ‘raise hand' feature will indicate to members that their request to speak was noted, and inform hosts when members wish to speak. The 'raise hand’ feature works as follows:

  1. When a member presses the mic button on the remote while all members are hard-muted, the system sends a 'raise hand' action. The pop-up shown below will be displayed, informing the member their request to speak has been sent.

    1. This message is displayed on screen for 10 seconds before fading out.

    2. Pressing the mic button again while the message is displayed will reset the 10 second timer and make the pop-up ‘blink’ to get the member's attention.

  2. The host will receive a notification indicating that a specific member asked to speak (raised their hand). The host can then unmute that member at their discretion.

Enabled Host Photos for Legacy and New Devices

Both new and legacy devices now display a host photo when it is available for live activities.

If the live activity has been set up to show a host photo and a host photo is available, members can now see a photo of the host instead of the regular activity icon. This helps to personalize the Uniper interface and make the activities more inviting.

  • Host photos can be added to Meeting Hosts via the Manage Users screen in UniManage.

  1. Go to Manage Users → Users.

  2. Select the relevant meeting host.

  3. Upload a photo from your computer.

Note: Because they may be rendered on large TV screens, photos need to be high resolution,

  • When creating a live activity, the UniManage user can choose to allow members to see the host photo instead of the regular activity icon.

    • This can be done by checking the Show host photo checkbox, under the meeting host selection area.

    • If the host does not have an available photo, an activity icon will be displayed instead.

  • The host photo will be displayed in all Uniper platforms.

Added Technical Comment Box in UniManage in Direct Calls Interface

The member list in the Direct Calls tab now includes a text box to add technical comments relevant to that member.

  • The text box allows for UniManage users to insert any type of technical note that they see fit.

  • The text inserted will be saved after the user hits the Save button.

New UniManage Fields for Router Information

Fields for when a member connected or disconnected their units have been added.

  • These fields are date fields which allow UniManage users to record when a member’s router was connected and disconnected.

  • The fields can be accessed in two places in UniManage:

    • Legacy UniTV devices: Go to UniManage → Subscribers → Manage Subscribers → Passthrough/COAX.

    • For UniPass/Unicast devices: go to UniManage → Subscribers → Manage Subscribers → Set Top Box Support → Technician Page.

Added Languages for the UniPass/UniCast Boxes (Spanish, Russian and Arabic)

Russian, Arabic, and Spanish have been added to the UniPass and UniCast systems.

  • Changing the display language can be done via the Settings tile in the UniTV home screen.

    • This does not apply to legacy UniTV boxes.

  • Changing the display language changes the member’s tags.

    • VCS and VOD content offered to the member will change as well, according to the care provider’s language configuration.

New Activity Type: Peer Group

A new activity type has been added to the live activities options— Peer Group.

  • Peer group type activities will default to gallery view.

  • Subscribers will be allowed to toggle between gallery and speaker view.
